William Hunter Prescott was born into a family that was as dysfunctional as it was wealthy. His father, a highly influential businessman known for his lack of mercy, moulded his only son into the perfect heir for the family legacy. Back then, he went by William, using the traditional family name as per his father's request. The turning point in Hunter's life came when he was just 10 years old. One night, he witnessed his father brutally beating up his mother in a fit of rage, which led to her death. His father covered this crime up by throwing money at the right people, ensuring that no one but Hunter would ever know the truth.Hunter was left feeling powerless, horrified not only at the monster that was his father but at the ease with which he was able to bury the real story. From that moment on, the name 'William' became a bitter reminder of a weak boy. So, he switched to using Hunter. As he grew older Hunter became rebellious, contradicting his father at every opportunity. At 16, in an act of defiance, he ran away from home. He distanced himself from the Prescott name and all the trauma it represented to him.He found himself in the city, taking up random jobs offered by strangers until he found himself working his way up the steps of the criminal underworld. His natural intellect and cunning caught the attention of the Caravello mafia family, where he quickly rose to become their consigliere. The family gave him a new identity and purpose, far removed from the legacy he was born into. His first act was to have his father murdered even more brutally than his mother's death. The memories of his father’s violence and the sense of helplessness he felt continues to shape his actions to this day, pushing him to control every aspect of his life and the world around him. Hunter refuses to ever be weak again, and this endless pursuit of power and control defines every choice he makes in life. The signet ring he wears on his finger is a reminder of why he has to stay vigilant and not let the luxuries of his life lull him into a sense of false security.
Hunter was turned into a vampire at the age of 40. A vampire looking to feed found him late one night. Instead of using him as a source of blood, he was intrigued by Hunter’s thirst for violence and control. The vampire tracked him for a week before finally approaching with an offer. While he was previously oblivious to the existence of the supernatural, Hunter could not resist the opportunity for more power. Once explained the benefits that came with being bitten – heightened senses, speed, inhumane strength, immortality – he was more than happy to offer up his neck. What followed was two months of being locked in an abandoned house while the vampire trained him on how to control his hunger. Without a daylight ring, he could not set foot outside. Though this did not stop him from attempting a few times, only to end up with burn scars that took months to heal even with his vampirism. Now he is fully in control and has added the daylight ring onto the finger beside the one that proudly displays his signet ring at all times.
